2005 Bermuda 1-2
"Por Favor" wins class 3 on corrected time in the double-handed leg of the Bermuda 1-2.
The Bermuda 1-2 this year had 3 Hobie 33's in class 3. The weather on the single-handed leg to Bermuda was challenging for the Hobie's, but Christian Reimer in "Sharkbait" came in in a very respectable 3rd place in class 3. Unfortunately Christian was unable to race in the return leg as after spending a couple of days in Bermuda he had to head back for work (sailing home single-handed).
Also unfortunately, "Topaz" the other Hobie 33 lost her mast half way back from Bermuda, but continued to Atlantic City under a jury rig. Despite these setbacks, the race back had great Hobie conditions, with a reach on the port tack for the first 2 days and then a close reach on the starboard tack for the next 2 days with 15 to 25 knots of wind. The result was close, with all 4 boats in class 3 to finish coming in within 4 hours of each other. Mark Morwood and Bob Salitsky on "Por Favor" ended up correcting out with a 20 minute lead. "Por Favor" also ended up coming in 5th overall on corrected time for the double-handed leg.
